Question by Erica: How much of a personal injury settlement can my attorney keep?
I was involved in a car accident and substained injury to my knee. I was awarded ,000 for pain and suffering. My attorney is giving me ,500, keeping 75%! This seems ridiculously high, how much can lawyers charge? I was under the impression that no more than 35%.

See the contract you signed ….
Give your answer to this question below!

While that seems excessive, it all depends on the legal agreement that you signed when you brought him on board. Ask him to detail the charges that result in his figure.
Read the contract you signed with him. It will say right there what he gets.
Shysters are pretty careful to ensure they have some document that “legalizes” their theft of your money. And 75% is pure theft.
You’re right in that 75% is ridiculously high. However, you need to look at what you agreed upon with the attorney when you first hired him/her to take on your case. I suggest taking a good look at that contract and if needed, consult another personal injury lawyer to see what your options are.
